Project Management

Project Management is the key function while executing a project. The success of any outsourced project is directly correlated to efficient Project Management. Project Management provides a complete end to end service and control over the project. Axiom offers such complete Project Management in prepress services that include:

Planning/Scheduling – Author correspondence, resolving queries, tracking, report, manage and coordinate the entire project to meet the target dates.

Cast Off – Typeset page calculation for the manuscript.

Copyediting – Improve the readability and effectiveness of the manuscript.

Template Creation – Standard layout with basic design and dimensions as per the specification.

Typesetting – Design and alignment of the supplied raw data in a standard way with specification.

Editorial
Copyediting

Axiom copy editors work closely with the author/production editor to improve the readability and effectiveness of the received manuscript. Here, copyediting ensures proper spelling, grammar, punctuation and usage, while maintaining consistent style. We have expertise in editing STM journals/books, academic books, social science, marketing, finance, school books and other professional titles in both UK and US English.

Indexing

Indexing is a process that captures the essence of the topic/selection of keywords, proper nouns, jargons and other special words as mentioned. We index books following style guidelines from the publishers.

Abstracting

Abstracting is to capture the essential content of the document, thereby saving the reader’s time. Here, we strive to create abstracts that are highly structured, concise, and coherent, and are the outcome of a detailed analysis of the content of the abstracted materials.

Proofreading

Our proof readers read the typeset pages diligently, character by character, against the manuscript, identify errors and also mark queries that are raised to the author/production editors. They apply the styles and format in the typeset pages as per the client specifications and maintain consistency through out the book. Proofreading is done according to our strict Quality Control process that yield 99.99% accuracy.

Typesetting

Typesetting is a process of layout creation, design and alignment of the raw data. We offer typesetting services both in Mac and PC for the following software:

  • QuarkXpress
  • PageMaker
  • TeX/LaTeX
  • Word
QuarkXPress/InDesign

We use Quark/InDesign for books and journals that are heavily designed and illustrated. We also have plug-in for tables and math settings. The range of projects for which we use Quark/Indesign/PageMaker/Word:

  • Columnar text jobs with 2 or more columns involving significant design work
  • Plain text – social science, law books, novels and trade books
  • Heavy tables – finance, marketing, directory and economics
  • High color illustrations – medical journals, atlas, comics and children books
  • Books/journals with simple math
TeX/LaTeX

TeX is platform-independent and is ideal for heavy mathematical and scientific settings. We use TeX/LaTex for books/journals which need complex math settings. We undertake projects in LaTex with client-provided style/class files; in-house style/class files can also be developed based on specific client needs.

Artwork

We offer artwork services to recreate charts, tables, graphs, maps, technical drawings, medical illustrations etc. and improve the quality of the artwork by re-labeling and re-drawing. Soft cover and dust jacket design services are provided in two or four colors. Our aim is to ensure the highest quality output to match our clients’ requirements. We handle all type of single color, multi-color and special color artwork that include:

  • Re-drawing (all types of geographic, medical, science, comics and children books illustration)
  • Re-labeling (raster and vector based images)
  • Conversion (from any data file to .eps/.tiff)
  • Cover design (wrappers and book jackets)
Data Capture/Conversion

Axiom converts XML, HTML, MS-Word, other electronic documents, databases, publish on the web, and get it ready for future technology from the various electronic inputs and hardcopy. The supplied data can be captured by OCR/double keying process and converted to any format. XML/SGML is playing an increasingly important role in the exchange of a wide variety of data online and for archival purposes by using standard coding. We work according to client specifications or we can create our own DTD as per client’s requirements. We have a dedicated and experienced data conversion team.

e-Publishing Services

e-Publishing is the process of publishing information to be viewed electronically or online.

e-Book

e-Book is an electronic version of a printed book which can be read on a personal computer or e-Book readers like Amazon kindle, Sony reader, Hanvon, Elonex eBook, Iriver story, Barnes & Noble nook, Mobipocket Reader for Windows Mobile and Endless ideas BeBook and Flip book etc with the extension .epub, .azw, .html, .mobi, .pdf, .txt etc. Axiom offers a conversion service to any e-Book format from virtually any format. We ensure that their content is properly prepared to be distributed as e-Books and are fully optimized around the reader or devices specified by the customers. We understand the limitations of each device and we convert e-Pub compatibility with all e-Book reading devices including mobile phones.

Flip Book

Converting PDF with high resolution images and fonts as flip book, you can drag the pages as real book. Features like zoom in, zoom out, go to page make it easy to read. The flip book gives you the exact feeling of reading a real book.

DRM Services

Digital Rights Management (DRM) is an access control technology, used by publishers, digital libraries, copyright holders etc. This will help to protect the digital content from copy, extraction, sharing, save, print, modify, resize, comments, form fill fields and other changes by the end users. This technology is mainly used in e-Books to give limited access to the readers.

Axiom can provide two types of DRM service:

Content level DRM – For Content level DRM, we can provide a password security for opening and setting permissions on PDF files. Apart from this, we can provide you files having your watermarking in the background. This watermarking will be standard PDF watermarking.

User level DRM – For user level DRM, we can provide you DRM using Adobe Content Server where you have flexibility of adding multiple level securities like page views/copy/print in a particular duration restricted to certain kind of devices as well. In this case, any link provided to a user can’t be used by any other user.

Document Scanning

We can scan millions of documents either old/new and convert the data into electronic formats provides easy access to important information or into digital images. Our production process is perfectly designed to provide utmost safety in handling your original documents.

Microfilm Scanning

Microfilming enables to record photographic images of printed materials such as books, periodicals and newspapers, and saves them from deteriorating due to poor paper and print quality. We can convert your 16/35 mm roll film or 3m cartridges to digital images.

Microfiche Scanning

Microfiches provide a compact form of storage, we can convert digital images from Jacketed Microfiche, COM Microfiche, 16/35 mm fiche, 105 mm Step & Repeat Microfiche, Step and Repeat Microfiche and Oversize (Ultra-fiche) Format.

News Paper Scanning

Newspapers are easily damageable and consume much space for storage. Conversion of newspapers and other paper documents to electronic formats provides fast access to them.

We scanned millions of News Papers – old and new and converted them into digital images. The original News Papers can either be returned, or stored in the safe custody for a predefined period.

Large Format Drawing Scanning

We scan large format drawings like Engineering/Architectural/ Industrial drawings and convert them in to electronic format.

Image/Photo Scanning
